Leah is loving rice cereal. It took her a couple of days, but now she understands leaning forward, opening her mouth, closing her mouth (important to keeping the food in), and putting her head down when she's done. I guess most kids look away when they're full, but she just puts her head down and won't look up.

LUNCH!

Leah had her very first rice cereal lunch today. It tasted yucky to her (and to mommy too.) But Leah kept eating more!

Friends.

Mallory and Lenna came to visit us at our new house today... I think Leah was pretty happy about it.

FEETIES!

Although Leah took part in the inaugural sock-removing a few days ago, she did not discover that she has feet until this morning.

We have lots of IKEA furniture to put together while daddy is at work - today we started with our chair.

I put Leah's socks on before her nap. Or I thought I did. When I woke her up, she had no socks on.

Then I put Leah on the floor to play while I made lunch. When I came back, she had one sock in her hand, and one by her head. Tricky girl.

Late Night with Leah.

I was able to get Leah to take an afternoon nap both Saturday and Sunday. She got back at me by staying up until 10pm (instead of 7:30pm) both nights. Turns out she loves 30 Rock... who could blame her?

Hungry hungry baby.

Leah is very very very interested in big-people food. When she sits at the table with us now, she always tries to intercept the food going to our mouths... sounds like it's almost time for solid foods - we're talking with a nutritionist on Thursday to help make some decisions on what and when to feed her.

Stranger Danger.

We went to another Amazon picnic yesterday, and Leah was having a great time until new people wanted to say hi to her/play with her/pick her up. I'm guessing it was a combination of being overtired, and also her first time meeting a lot of new people - but she cried more yesterday than she's ever cried. :( As soon as we got back home, where she knew where she was and who was around, she was back to happy girl again.

Newborns Class Alums.

We were the guest speaker family at the Taking Care of Newborns class at the UW Hospital tonight - Luke and I talked about being new parents, and Leah jabbered almost the entire time. Guess she had a lot to say about how we're doing so far. :)

Mommy's Fault.

Mommy sucked the baby monitor power adapter up into the vacuum and totally destroyed it. Fortunately, dad was able to use his super-dad skills and fix it until our replacement comes. :)

Amazon Picnic

We went to the Amazon picnic today - so much fun. We saw the Lundells, ate lots of yummy food, saw a pony, and got a Hullabaloo game by winning BINGO!

Morning naps only, please.

Leah has been preferring to sleep 10-12 hours at night, followed by a 2 hour morning nap. And that's it. No afternoon naps for her this week.

We got our new sofa today... finally. Here's Leah showing it off. (She looks sad because her dinner was interrupted by the delivery men.)

Ergobaby.

Leah is finally big enough to ride in the Ergobaby carrier... we've been having fun taking short walks with it, while we figure out how to use it best. :)

Saturdays are daddy days.

We ran some errands today in the morning - picked up some wire shelving to put up in Leah's room... I think we've done more work in Leah's room than in any other room in the house. :) Also, our next-door neighbors came by with some flowers for us, and a hand-me-down baby swing for Leah!

Leah's grandma left this morning - we're excited to see her again soon! Leah slept a bunch today, as she always does after guests leave. Tonight we're going to the velodrome to watch Luke race!

New town, new playgroup.

Although we already miss our old playgroup pals, we had our first day at our new playgroup today - lots of mommies and babies with April, May & June 2009 birthdays. For the first time ever, Leah is the big girl, impressing the younger babies with her feats of neck strength.

Decorating and Family!

Leah's Aunt Cindy, and cousins Maggie & Jeffrey came to visit today! They brought Leah some great bibs, cups, books, and Austrian candy (for mommy).

Mommy and Grandma Lauren worked on Leah's room more today - we'll put up some pictures tomorrow :)

Catching Up!

We've been moving to our new house, and have been without the wonders of the intarwebs until today - so here's the last few days worth!

Thursday, July 30 - We finished packing, and Leah and mommy took Daddy and Grandpa to get the Uhaul... The men took our first load of boxes over to our new Sweet Pea house! (We call it the sweet pea house because that's the name of the kitten that used to live at this house) :)

Friday, July 31 - Our best friends Mike & Lisa (and Penny) came to help us move! It was so hot, but we had a great day anyway.

Saturday, August 1 - Grandma, Grandpa, Mommy, Daddy and Leah took a big trip to Lowe's. Daddy and Grandpa put up a ceiling fan in Leah's room to keep her cool! Leah jabbers to Grandma all the time - seems like they have a secret language. :)

Sunday, August 2 - We took Leah for her second dining out experience - Maggiano's! Yum yum! Leah has been sticking her tongue out constantly.

Monday, August 3 - We said goodbye to Grandpa today... He helped us do so many things around (and outside) the house! Leah slept a lot to make up for all of the excitement when Grandpa was here.

Tuesday, August 4 - Grandma painted Leah's room today - it's beautiful and will be even more beautiful tomorrow when the animals get painted on the walls!

What a big day for Leah - 105 degrees in Seattle, hottest day on record here... We enjoyed a break at Starbucks to sign for our NEW HOUSE! And she had her first dinner out at Ram to celebrate her grandparents' anniversary!

Grandma and Grandpa!

Grandma Lauren and Grandpa Mark are here! It sure is hot today - fortunately, through the power of overnight shipping, we should have two more box fans soon.

Leah had a really hard time sleeping last night because it was so hot. Fortunately, I got to sing a lot of "hot hot hot" which cracks her up.

A fortress of boxes (with kittens on top) is starting to surround Leah's downstairs crib.

We picked up Leah's "new" jumperoo today - she seems to love the bright colors, but doesn't quite have the urge to jump yet. :)

Movin' and doin'.

We went to visit a family selling a great dining table that we love - Leah came with and met their two little girls... it's amazing how different a 3 month old and a 6 month old are! Also, Grandma and Grandpa will be here in 1 week!!

This weekend, Leah learned how to stick out her tongue whenever she wants to. She loves to watch us and stick hers out when we stick ours out at her.

More shopping?

We had a family shopping trip to IKEA today, and Leah is pooped. Probably resting up for when Daddy gets back from his race. :)

1 little monkey jumpin' on the bed

Leah and mommy went mattress shopping today for the bed in the guest room, which will eventually become Leah's big girl bed (in the way way future).

Green Lakers

We walked around Green Lake today... we want to be sure we get our fill before we move in 2 weeks!

Playgroup

We met baby Paige today at playgroup... We hung out with Paige's mommy and daddy when they were pregnant with her, and we were pregnant with Leah.

3 months!

Leah is 3 months old today!

Daddy is too much fun.

When daddy is home for the weekend, Leah gets too excited to sleep... Until he goes back to work, and she sleeps all day.

Big Comfy Couch

Leah helped us pick out a great new couch for the Sweet Pea house today... We're looking forward to lots of snuggling on it in the coming years. :)

Leah went to her first bike race today - she loved laying on her blanket and watching the fun-colored bikes and jerseys whiz by.

As I was watching the series finale episode of Gilmore Girls on Wednesday night (and Logan proposed to Rory, just like he did the last 4 times I've watched that episode,) I realized that one day, a guy might call our house asking to marry our sweet Leah.

I just hope that he's as great a man as Leah's daddy is.

Laundry Day

It's laundry day today, and it's obvious. Leah is wearing a pink onesie with olive green stretchy pants, and mommy is wearing a green t-shirt with red running shorts. And we're going to the mall like this.

Crafty gal

We went to Joann Fabrics today to scout out some fabrics for the new house... Leah LOVED seeing all the colors of the fabrics as I pushed her through the aisles in her stroller - she was cooing and smiling the whole time.

Leah slept in her crib for the first time last night! (And mommy even slept in her own bed.)

We celebrated the 4th of July with our friends Mike & Lisa... We drove out to Redmond to visit our new house, and had a yummy picnic lunch at Marymoor Park.

In the last week, Leah has become so much more aware of her surroundings... today at playgroup, she was sitting on my lap like a big girl, watching the other kids... and at the store, she was cooing at the brightly colored toys in the kid aisle...

Leah is 11 weeks old today! We went box-hunting for our upcoming move.

We took Leah to visit her new house and have it inspected - she slept the whole time.

Leah picked out the house of her dreams last night, so we put an offer in - we'll see if we get it for her!

Today Leah rolled from her front to her back and it was so great.

Leah is 9 weeks old today! We're going to celebrate by doing some shopping, some walking, and some Bachelorette watching tonight :)
